Has anyone tried the latest version mini-state HDMS9100? I live in the Stoney Creek, Hamilton area and can get local Canadian TV (CBC, CTV, OMNI, CHCH, etc) using only an indoor antenna. I'm interested in setting up one on the roof (or attic) so I can also watch American Networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX) from Buffalo, that is why this OTA antenna although a bit expensive is interesting. My Signal analysis from TV fool says this stations are about 65 miles away. Any review or other antenna setup suggestion is appreciated. |

The mini-state HDMS9100 has a reliable signal recieving radius of 45 miles based on this information if you went this route rooftop would be your best method of successful reception.. are you situated above or below the escarpment?

I got this antenna with the tower I got 2 months back. It's good if you're close enough. For me, it might work with the Toronto stations, but might be tough to pick up the distant South Buffalo channels like 2, 4, 7, and 49. The concept and design is good though! :) And I'm in Mississauga, you might have better luck, though I would reocmmend outdoor installation with a height that clears any nearby obstructions like your roof and trees. The enscarpment if you're on top might also be an advantage! |

For 199$Cdn you should be able to get set up with a preamp, antenna and rotator that will outperform this rig.

I've seen a lot of these "disc style" antennas installed between Port Colborne and Wainfleet Ontario. This area is about 40 miles from both the Toronto and Buffalo transmitters. Your mileage may vary but don't expect to receive anything beyond the antennas published capability.. . :-)

I tried my "UFO" disk antenna in Toronto and got 17 and 23 from Buffalo. 4 or 8 "bow tie" antennas are much better and cheaper.

I live below the escarpment and near the North Service road side of QEW (which is near the lake). I like the pre-amp and rotator idea though.

After a good 10 year run, it's not working anymore for me. I'm in Aurora, and this antenna worked better than an 8-bay that has been sitting in my garage. Any other good substitute with equal or better gain? |
