Please I need some suggestion and help with color band runing from top to bottom on the screen.

I have a mits 65 inch HD receiver with Hughes E86. I also have a channel master model 7777 amp mounted alongside the mast for my DTV..
Only when I am in component 1.. which is 1080i will I see the green color streak on all Directv channels..
It does make my picture look horrible..
I just installed a Monster cable Surge proctetor HD2000?? or so, and the color has gone become fainter, but it is still streaking..
I do not see any color problem when using OTA or in s-video mode.
Any ideas ?

Did you try replacing your component cables? Maybe there is something wrong with the ones you are using. Is that amp on a diplexed line? Or is it on a dedicated coax only for your antenna?

The model 7777 amp has been moved to different line or lines.. but I am yet to get clean view of the screen. I have also replaced my component cable several times. problem still remains..
I even changed the multi switch last week from Trunkline to Terk.... I am out of a solution. (Trunkline is for sale now)
I am thinking that maybe the Hughes is having a problem in switching, or could be impedance related... hence I changed cables several times..
On the Channel Master amp, there is a jumper that may be causing this mess. It defaults "IN" means No FM signal.. My Radio Shack antenna X190R has UHF/VHF/FM.. Maybe I will have to set the jumper on "OUT".. means use FM..
I am lost..
Thanks.

Is component video the only choice you have to come out of the Hughes direct TV receiver box ? Can't you use component Video for your DVD player, and use some other kind of connection for your HDTV ??

Thanks for oyur response.. I do not see any color band if I use S-video input.. I also do not see any color problem if I use 480P DVD inpuy..
Even when I use 480P for the Panasonic TU DST51A, no color bands... It is only onm the 1090i input which I have for the Hughes...
If I put the huges on 480P, I will not get any picture...
I think when you have a hughes for HD, one should use it..
Thanks.

It's becoming more evident that there is no problems with your system, and that your direct tv box is not capable of processing thru a 1080i resolution, you might want to try another box.

gomoregie,
The mitsubishi tv uses different video settings in each of their inputs 480i,480p and 1080i. these settings are apart of the service menu they are also the factory settings. the Hughes hd receiver outputs a 1080i signal thru Y Pb Pr only. if you want to test the receiver as a standard picture connect a S video to the hd receiver then on the remote select action HD/SD this will shut down the HD output at the componet and send the standard signal thru S. If you still see those lines then you need to have the receiver replaced or try the unplug solution first. if not then the problem lies with the mitsubishi tv. the tv my have a micro glitch so do the unplug solution first. lines in picture is an anolog problem and since Y/Pb/Pr is sill anolog, ( only much faster horizontal scan pulses than NTSC), it may be interferance from some other source. I've even seen these kind of problems from bad preamps in A/V receivers with componet switching. are you going thru a suround receiver with componet swicthing? try directly hooking it up.
Hope this helps
Bob

I have tried all sorts of tricks. I connect directly from Hughes to the tV with component cable 12ft...
i have also tried using S-video,, i see no problem within the use of S-video..
I suspect either a bad hughes or interference... or bad switcing with the Mitsubishi.

thanks..
