I tried each RCA TV code with an RCA universal and an OCAP and got no response.

Used "automatic" scroll mode with OCAP and it found a code that turned it on and off, but nothing else: no menu, channel, volume, info, etc. So at least I know the IR detector is still working.

The TV model is: LED55G55R120Q

There were a few RCA models after RCA tinkered with its IR code set so NO universal remote had a code for it. Soon after RCA/Proscan models started responding to the Goldstar/LG code like 10178, 10056, 11758.

Thanks for the tip. Those codes get me part way. The menu cursor keys don't work, nor does the "info" button.

I'll try some of the other LG codes.

Found it!!

12424

This was the highest number on my LG list and the first one I tried. The only thing I can't get is INFO (channel guide). Menu cursors work, Mute works, Last works (aka Return), Input works, channel numbers (direct input) work, and, of course, Power on/off.

Thanks Ed for pointing me in the right direction.

I wanted to find a code that would access the channel guide. Did not find one, but I found more codes that have the same effect as 12424:

11265
11423
11993
12358

UEI made remotes like yours accept 5 digit codes for individual functions like the Channel Guide, you can search them out, by pressing the SET key once and release the enter 00000, while pointing at your tv, if isn't want you wanted, try SET 00001, SET 00002, and so on. The command won't fire until after the fifth digit. Once you find one you want mapped do the following to map it to an unused button:

1. tv
2. press and hold SET for two blinks, release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 5 digit code
6. pick a key

I found a site with complete instructions for 9xx commands:

also found listing for 3-digit advanced codes:

Do you know if the RCRN04GR (RCA universal) can be programmed similarly?

Sorry I don't know if the RCA remote accepts advanced codes(EFC), or not. For three digit advanced cofdes you have to add two zeroes to the front on modern remotes.

the advanced code for channel guide is 18, but needs to be entered as "00018"

other codes I found for this RCA TV (similar to Proton group 0031):

25 Closed caption (menu link)
53 ON/OFF
54 Sleep timer (menu link)
57 MUTE
59 INPUT
116 - 123 numbers 0 - 7 (random order)
165,181 CH+
182,183 VOL+
169,185 CH-
186,187 VOL-
171 MENU
245 8
247 return (previous channel)
249 9

Still need to find code for "-" (dash). Without it you can't key digital channels. It goes to analog if no dash entered. You can channel up to digital, but that goofs up the return function.

I was also hoping to find the "channel bar" code (info about current channel), but was unsuccessful. The channel guide covers it anyway. This is the first TV I've seen that includes the previous show, just missed, in the list. Neat option.
