Can I do this ??

I have ~ 100 tv channels over 3 different boxes and I was to create on channel list where all the news channels are together for example ..

Can I have a list on the lcd screen and scroll up/down it using the thumbwheel and have it execute a macro to select the appropriate channel and switch an IR controlled av switcher to view the right device ??

Any thoughts ?

Hmm, I don't think so... all buttons must be the same size and shape, so a "list" format isn't possible. For reference, a "scrollable" list can't be done on the Pronto either.

Jason,

I have achieved something similar (although only with about 40 channels), although as Daniel correctly points out you can't use a list type display as you would like. However there are two possible solutions...

Initially tou must write a macro for each channel you want to surf. This macro should send the correct codes to your various boxes.I'm sure you can work this bit out...

Then you could add all there Macros to the home menu using the TC software. People often forget that you can do this, and it is quite a powerfull faeature. This WILL allow you to use the "list" function of the TC. But be warned I have found that there is some slowdown of the remote when you stick too much on the Home menu. It's also not quite as usefull as you might expect. Navigating a large list is difficult...

Alternatively (and the solution which I use/ prefer) you can then design an activity screen for every "type" of program you want. Eg a "News Channels" activity. On here you stick each news channel macros you have written. Along with this dont forget to put "links" to all your other usefull activities and devices. I tend to use the bottom line of button space for this. So you could end up with five or so channel category activities, each with the relevant channel macros and shortcuts to the other categories...

I find this method really opens up the TC1000, and once you discover it (for all devices/activities not just channels) you begin to realise how good the TC really is...

If you need some more info (I could always send some bitmaps of my screens as an example) let me know, and I'll do my best...

Very Best Regards,
Leigh.
