I BOUGHT A TC1000. I,VE GONE THROUGH THE SETUP. I WENT TO MY COMPUTER TO CONNECT THE SERIAL PORT CORD AND THE TC1000 WOULD'NT LET ME CONTINUE I KEPT GETTING THE SAME RESPONSE "TC1000 NOT CONNECTED". I HAVE A LAPTOP AND DESKTOP. AND I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. I TOOK THE UNIT BACK TO THE STORE AND GOT ANOTHER. AND GOT THE SAME RESPONSE AGAIN. IS THIS JUST DUMB LUCK OR ARE OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M PRETTY SURE I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. COULD SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME INSITE INTO MY PROBLEM. BECAUSE OF THIS I'M CONTEMPLATING GETTING A PRONTO.

read my posts on this site and the help I have gotten off all the other people. It sounds like your computers are not configured properly with the com port settings. I had the same trouble for a while. If you get a pronto they connect to a pc as well don't they, wouldn't you have the same problem?
chris.

I had the same problem...what the problem is is that the 9 pin on your computer is a parallel port NOT a serial port. You must have a SERIAL port. You will need to seek computer advice or someone technically inclined to make the change.

Well he is certainly not getting good advice here because I have NEVER seen a 9 pin parallel port.
I agree with Chris that he may or may not have the same problem with a Pronto.

However, he certainly has made a good effort trying two computers and two IRIQs.

Perhaps the Pronto is a logical thing to try but it is more complex (and therefore more problems to stumble into) but more capable too.
