I thought I'd read it all! until I came here, you lot are crazy 0_0 you'll spend $200 plus on a bleedin' tv remote, now move closer to the screen ... a bit more ... just a tiny bit more .... that's better now ARE YOU STARK RAVING MAD the lot of you, (whoops sorry to make you jump!)

get up off your fat arses and walk to the TV JESUS you lot must be the laziest B@stards I have ever come across,

anyway to my original reason for coming here,

I've got a crappy £10 universal remote that if it's not F*ck all use it's a very close second, it works my TV and then it worked my Video err apart from there is no Stop button,

I don't just mean none of the buttons Stop the tape (which they don't by the way) but on the remote all the Video/DVD buttons have icons on them such as jog <> Pause FF REW Play but no STOP I mean are they taking the pi$$ or what!

Video is a bog standard top of the range Sony DA Pro SLV-715 with digital editing capabilities for use with Video Cameras (which i never bought so never used) you'd think that the remote would be able to at least STOP THE FRIGGIN' TAPE but no,

and then I tried my DVD player NOPE not a snif, whoa wait a minute this cheap and nasty remote has a (patent pending) Auto search for codes function (Impressive) sounded more promising than it was ...

sat there for about twenty minutes while it blinked at the DVD (and I didn't) waited and waited for any sign of power or play, I would have even settled for Eject, Nada, not a sausage,

Oh hang on do I need a DVD in there? hmmm I'll try again, remote binking and blinking, jesus my eyes are watering by now I cannot let it beat me I W.I.L.L O.U.T. S.T.A.R.E. T.H.E. D.V.D. .... 4 hours later Anita finds me sat there with drool running down my chin, I was hypnotised like a Chicken on a White line, and my eyes were gummed open,

anyway I am taking the remote back next saturday to stick it where there isn't the remotest chance of it ever being recovered and sod the £10 (teach me to be a cheap B@stard) so please buy the Bravo 8 in 1 R-025 remote it will do for you what no $200+ remote can (put you in a mental institution)

thanks for reading don't bother replying with suggestions because by the time you do the remote will be brown and smelly!

Wow, this guy takes the time to register just to make fun of us! I think it is flattering. By the way, can anybody understand this incoherent story?

if you tried a 200$ remote, you might know why we use them. On the other hand, sounds like sour grapes

He probably can't afford one, that's why he is bad-mouthing it. If you used one, you would relize that it makes a Home Theater easier to use.

If by 'can't afford one' you mean I don't have enough spare money to buy one, then on that basis I can afford one,

[I mean i'm stupid enough to go out and buy a different car after three weeks because I didn't like the colour of the 1st brand new one (same model just black instead of blue) now I can see an outsiders point of view "it's only a car" but the colour was really getting me down and now I'm certifiably happy]

however if you mean can't afford one in the sense that I am not stupid enough to buy a $200+ remote and then sit there and say to Anita

"ooh look love what i spent $200 on isn't it fantastic? look you can turn the telly off and on with it, no don't go purple and start laughing dearest, you can also start and stop DVD's and alter volume, are you choking darling err get up off the floor and stop rolling around " then you are right

and you still don't get it do you?

in the original post, i am not insulting you, it is called "having the crack" in the UK (no not smoking it) which basically means getting a poke in the ribs to show you that we don't take you (or ourselves for that matter) seriously,

you wouldn't last 2 minutes in a local pub we'd have you snivelling and quaking with rage at the supposed insults! and then laugh our bollocks off as you stormed out,

if you re-read it you will notice I am taking the piss out of myself for buying a crap £10 remote,

IE: £10 (me at one end of the spectrum) -------- a shit load of money in between -------- (you lot at the other) $200 - $400

and no I have never even seen a home theatre (do you get a free usher?)

Look at it this way, I might say, "it's only a car," while you might say, "It is only a remote" I can see your point that a $200 remote is not a wise purchase to many, but it is more than just a show piece.

I don't know about Anita, but I know a lot of guys have said that it was the best investment ever made. If it was not for work, where I needed to setup a remote so that any person can use our videoconference room without any training, I probably would have agreed with you, but I learnt what they can do, and decided to get one for myself. On the other hand, I don't take myself very seriously, and I come here for the camaraderie, and because we share a common interest. I think if we took it as seriously as you think we do we would probably not have responded.

MadBob: Hey, how ya doin'? You are one funny guy. Seriously. Maybe some of the chappies here could use a good bit o' the ol' slap an' tickle, jolly rickle, know what I mean. Get 'em out of their rut.

thing is , once you get hooked on trying to actually get a working stop button, you may develop a little insanity yerself. I think the Bravo is "adequate", but boy lads there's better ones that that over 'ere.

So Bob, now that we've established yer stupid for buying a cheap remote and we're stupid for buying expensive ones...

Did you drop by for any especial reason (in other words, what's your point?), or just to chat? Either way, welcome. The more maniacs, the merrier! Be sure to check the Intermission forum, too. -Bruce
