Aside from the size, the hard buttons on the Sony, and the price, how do these compare?
They can both handle macros, and neither one has labels that can really be customized? Is there a real difference in their capabilities?
Also, with touchscreen LCD's like these can the "buttons" be held down like a hard button (such as increasing the volume or scanning ahead on a DVD)???

I've heard the RR990 (and it's various rebrandings) is a bit limited in capacity, even compared to the Sony. Yes, you can hold down touchscreen buttons for repeating signals. Though really, you'll probably find real buttons easier for volume control.

Limited? How? In terms of devices it can operate? Numbers of Macros? I'll be using it to control my: Pioneer VSX-D608 receiver Pioneer DV-414 DVD Pioner PDF-something 101 disc changer Panasonic Hifi VCR General Instrument Cable box Zenith 27" TV
So, are 6 components with 3 relatively simple macros, going to be too much for the Rotel?
