I have a RS 1994 remote and it draines all 4 of the batteries in about 2 to 3 weeks.
Do all 1994 remotes go thru batteries that quickly or is it just mine?
Are there any suggestions to help conserve these batteries and reduce my battery expenses?
Thanks for your assistance, Lou

Used mine (three remotes) so far for six months with Duracell batteries and they still work great!

All batteries are NOT created equal. Try a different brand.
Make sure you don't keep your remote where somehow one or more buttons might be constantly pushed. My wife tends to pile stuff on top of our remote(s) and occasionally it will result in a button down/battery wasted end.

Which batteries do you recommend?
I am using the Duracell's with the battery gage built in - any others?

My theory about any battery with a guage is that the guage eats power, and shortens the useful life of the battery.
I like Radio Shack batteries. In several comparisons I've seen, Radio Shack's batteries will maintain their high power longer than most, then die quickly. Many other batteries will last the same total time, but drop power gradually near the end. Many devices have a power threshold, under which they will stop working eben if there is some power left in the battery. the Radio Shack batteries seems to remain above this threshold longer.
Just my opinion. No, I do not work for radio shack.

Dave's original comment is a good one. When you put the remote down to rest at night, do you usually pile a lod of books on top of it or something like that? I found one of my remotes blinking at me the other day because somebody had put something on top of it causing it to continually send some kind of signal.
