Hi, I'm using pronto edit on an XP service pack 3 virtual machine on my Mac.  Installed ProntoProEditNG v2.1.8.   I can't download to upload to the TSU7000.  Receiving error "The connected device is not supported by ProntoProEdit NG".   Installed drivers per Lyndel McGee (Sept 18, 2005) Instructions to find the driver in the Philips software folder (initially had issue finding driver).  Do I need a certain firmware to use v2.1.8?  How do I check the firmware on the remote without connecting?   When I connect the remote, the computer recognized the remote and adds to device manager.  I also had similar problems using an old XP laptop that I tried.  Also, when I attempt to connect to the TSU7000, the remote locks up and I have to remove the battery to reboot.

Per what you downloaded, in the last line of the text, it states the required firmware

PPENG v2.1.8 For use only with the Philips ProntoPro NG color remote control. Changes to this version include a fix for issues that occurred occasionally when labelling objects, plus other changes made earlier: support for the TSU7500, improved performance and stability (files load up to 30 times faster); new shortcut keys and menus; graphical linking and improved button-to-button copying; button alignment and spacing tools; JPG support; redesigned IR code screens with IR duration; image extraction; plus other usability improvements. Requires firmware v3.8.16 or newer.

To check the firmware on the remote, press and hold the TOOLS button (remote icon at top of screen) for at least 3 seconds.

From the menu, there should be a menu option to update firmware (Tools Menu IIRC).

I don't see any firmware options under Tools.  I'm assuming I must have an early version of the firmware.  Looks like, I'll have to try an earlier version of PPENG. Thank you

Press and hold the pronto icon on the remote (TSU7000) screen for 3 seconds and you can determine which firmware you have. Don't do this in the simulator but only on real remote.
