Does anybody know why my Pronto 7500 after all these years to control many different receivers, can't control the C61k? I've tried both the ir and rf controls. It worked last when I had the RVU setup which means you don't have a Directv receiver at all. Thank You Bob H.

Maybe IR is using an alternate codeset on these receivers? Assuming you have already set the receiver to IR mode? Screen captures here: [Link: blog.solidsignal.com]

You're probably right about the alternate codeset. I wonder if going back to a RVU {no receiver at all} would allow me to use the Pronto 7500. Not an easy thing to do, and not sure it would work. Thank You Bob H.

A long shot here... You might want to try both codesets in this file to see if 1 works. [Link: files.remotecentral.com]

It worked on all the codes that were out there. Now the problem is that some of the codes that I need weren't there. I need the codes for record advance or skip 30 seconds replay or back 6 seconds delete pause play Update::::: Good news I found an old directv remote and it had the code set that was needed. Thank you for your help

I recently upgraded my DirecTV receivers. I was previously controlling them using RS232 through the USB port. Does anyone know if this is possible with the C61K? The USB port is there.

QQ - is the USB port on the PC and the 232 port on the DirectTV receiver or does the receiver have the USB and the PC a 232 port? The reason I ask is that once upon a time, Xantech had an IR to 232 converter. You could preload up to 32 serial strings (IIRC) which would be sent to the equipment in question upon receiving 1 of the 32 IR command functions. As you are posting in the NG forum, I expect that you don't have a Pro (TSU9600 or similar) remote with a Serial Extender. If you had this combination, you could use the 9600 to send serial commands out from the RFX9600 and then all you'd need would be either 1) a 232 null modem cable or straight connect or 2) a serial to USB adapter which you would plug in the USB side into the DirectTV receiver.

Lyndel -- Sorry, I just noticed this response. I have several TSU-9400 remotes and several RFX9600 serial extenders. I have controlled my old 20-year old DirecTV boxes using serial to USB (on the box) adapters. I was just wondering if the fairly new C61K DirecTV boxes actually accept and react to serial commands. Was hoping someone actually was controller a C61K box via RS232 within a Pronto environment that is working now.
