I am having to accommodate the Cisco/Scientific/Comcast RNG200 DVR codes in my many clients with Pronto NG remotes and RFX6500's . Seems like none NG's will learn these new codes. After copying the codes from MEGA18 or a TSU9400 program (which will "learn") all seemed fine until selecting some three digital TV channel icons. I use a .3 second delay between each number. Most worked except when there is a 0 or 1 for the first or second digit , then the next number would not enter. Delays or IR duration would not help. Strange as it is I found entering the number twice worked. Ex. channel 150 became 1550, 416 became 4166. Even channel 11 became 111. Has anyone experienced this or found a better solution?

Sounds like you may have a toggle bit issue. Not sure how to fix this for your specific case. Have you reviewed the Classic Pronto FAQ (not Pronto NG FAQ) for suggestions?

And did you see the other thread in this forum on RNG200?

The Hex Codes in the RTI Mega18 List look clean to me. They are XMP Protocol which is an unreliable Protocol.

Here is the Digit 1 Hex Code generated with MakeHex.

which just looks like a poorly Learnt Hex Code to me, but hey it might work.

Lyndel, Toggle bits may become a real issue. At a recent Elan training, their software includes a fix for the new toggles, created and sold by Philips, believe it or not. My understanding is the first toggle, for eg., turns on, and the second turns off. They are not discrete but if you cover up the second IR toggle press the command again it will not work until pressed again.

Don't confuse toggle bit with Toggle Codes. (Power Toggle vs discrete Power On/Off).

Toggle Bit is an encoding technique used to detect if a button is pressed 2 times in a row. Such as 0 0 7 in a channel sequence. The actual remote's IR data has a bit inside that flips on/off (toggles) on subequent presses of the same button such that the IR receiver can detect that user really did want 0 0 7 and not 0 7. Pronto has difficulty learning such codes in certain circumstances.

Again, please see the Classic Pronto FAQ and don't ASS-U-ME. There are details/workarounds there.

Thanks Jason, I will not have the opportunity to try them until next week. Will let you know if they fix the problem. The code I posted works but the next numerical code after a 1 or 0 need pressed twice.

My apologies. I misread your original response and mistook your on/off to be a reference to Discrete Codes (not codes with Toggle Bits).

However, may I point out that you are confusing the term TOADS with toggle bits?

TOADS is a term coined years ago by Dale Crawford that is specifically directed towards a device that has Toggle Only codes (such as Power Toggle but not discrete Power On/Power Off). Has nothing to do with on/off bits that are part of IR code data.

Jason, Thanks the 1 without the repeat works great. Could you generate the 0 without the repeat? My codes learned with the TSU9400 seem to be a bit more reliable than the Mega 18 commands.

Jason, You're the Hero! The non repeating numerical codes work like a dream. RC should post them for Cisco cable boxes. Anyone with NG Pronto's and RFX's can use them without a problem. Anyone without all the other commands can use Mega18 or learn them with a TSU9400. One more cudo to you. I needed a discrete on or off command for a Sony receiver zone 3, after a quick search I found the discrete off command posted by you. It was not available without retrieving my Sony CIS box. Thanks again!!

Hello,

I have the same issue with a RC5400 and a comcast rng150 and was able to follow the thread and use jasonvp's posted codes for the digits. This works fine - thanks to you all for this.

I don't understand the reference to Mega18 - could someone explain how to get the rest of the remote codes for the other cable box functions?
