Did I imagine that the 3000 is speced to have toggling functionality (to remove the requirement for matching devices & the jumping between the two required for toggle simulation) ?? Haven't spotted anything about it in PENG ...

From what Daniel's said, conditional macros are planned as a future upgrade for this model. While we don't know exactly what this means, it's likely to mean that we will be able to keep track of state variables, and this in turn would allow a button to toggle between multiple IR codes.
Of course, since this has not been officially announced as a feature, it might never happen. Time will tell...

It is a future FW/SW change. Like David said, it will probably be a simple true/false structure and not a complicated if/then/else structure.
