I just got a DirecTV high definition DVR (HR20) that can accept IR or RF signals. It comes with an RF remote, and I'd like to use that remote in an adjacent room to control the DVR and use my TSU7000 in the main room. The HR20 can only receive IR or RF signals, but not both at the same time, so I want to use the Pronto in RF mode.

In this scenario, I don't need an RF extender, as I don't need to convert the RF signals to IR. The Pronto works beautifully in IR mode with the HR20, but I can't get it to work in RF mode. Is is possible to use the Pronto in "native" RF mode without having to use an RF extender?

Thanks!

Patrick

No, I'm afraid not. If you want to operate your devices using RF signals, you will need an RF Extender.

The Pronto uses the 433.92 frequency, and a search of the FCC ID on my RC32RF remote shows that it also uses the same frequency. That's why I had hoped they would be compatible.

I know the IR codes in the Pronto work, would the RF codes be different? Can they be learned? RF Expert Dave Houston, are you out there?

The 7000 operates at 418MHz.
