The device where the codes are actually located is what determines IR or RF transmission. In other words, a hidden device with the name of RF Codes could be set to RF, all pages within this device will then transmit RF, assuming this is the device where the codes were learned, or chosen from the database. The cable box device (for example) would have buttons with links to the hidden RF Codes device. In this case it wouldn't matter what the cable box device was set for, it would always send RF due to the properties of the RF Codes device.

Hope this makes sense.

A friend tried to learn the codes of my remote with his Pronto RU980 - and finally some of the codes get a reaction of the cable box. Others (most of them) still don't do anything, but maybe this is a step forward? Could one of the IR Experts maybe have a look at the codes:

Works:

me again. i tried learning the codes with my NAD Revceivers Remote, which also is able to learn codes from other ir remotes. it took only one try and bingo - works fine with the cable box. then i tried to learn the codes from the NAD's Remote into my new Pronto, and still the device doesn't respond. what else can i try?

I have the Pronto 7500 and have exactly this same issue. I tried copying the CCF files, but none of them worked. I have an original Pronto somewhere, and may use it to test the CCFs. I'm not sure what this will prove, as I love the color screen so much, I'd hate to go back.

i tried to contact philips support and i was directed to a hifi shop near the place where i am living. they called me yesterday and told me they were able to learn the codes direct (without pc software) after some trial and error. i will try that tomorrow when i get back from france, although i think i tried it with my old pronto before.. if i have some news i let you know.

Thanks cowflake. Let me know if you find something interesting. My hunch is that the successes in the past invooved learning from an original Pronto, so the CCFs work and can be transferable, but not to the newest Prontos that we have.
