I played with a TSU3k today in bright and dark lit situations and was not too impressed with the display. It is barely blue, and compared with the emulator I would say it is only maybe 25% as nice looking as the emulator makes it look- the 16 shades aren't that great on the LCD.
Also I didn't like the fact that the left/right/up/down cursor button have engraved labels already on them, not sure what the graphics indicate, but it seems like it could be confusing to have hard graphics on a button that serves multiple purposes.
I decided to wait a while on any upgrade from my 2k.

The display is actually quite nice, compounded by the fact that it is automatically backlit when you any button is pressed.
Additionally, if you expect your pronto screen to be bright and crisp as your high-resolution CRT display, you're in for a dissapointment.
Physically, I'd say that the new pronto is a great improvement over the 2000 series. My only dissapointment is with the software.
