Here's a new one on me.

I modify a config I have used frequently. Client gets it and says the 7000 is making a high-pitched squeel, all of the time, except when it goes to sleep. Unit works but the noise is still there. Client is using RF, with RFX6000.

Hmmm.... we go through all of the firmware and PPENG version stuff, without any satisfaction.

Client talks to Philips. They suggest he return it to the dealer and get another. Dealer gives no satisfaction so Philips tells him to return. They do swap out and return to client. Client confirms the serial #'s are different.

Load config, still squeeling.

I remove the beeps I had programmed in for start and end of the macros. Squeel goes away! Hmmmm...

Client and I both determine we are 2.0.12.0 PPENG but client has upgraded to 3.7.7 firmware, also labeled TSU7000 2.1

Any ideas?

Thx Dave

Had the same problem when scrolling through the guide at a rapid rate. Pronto would continue to beep until I reset it. Hasn't happened yet with the latest firmware (3.8?)

Ah, rats. I was going to have you contact Dave....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Dave,

Read the thread by Carlton Bale. [Link: remotecentral.com]

I think what you are seeing is similar to what he has posted. In a Macro, if I recall correctly, his beeps continued unless he put a delay right before the beep.

What I think is happening is that you might have a high-pitched beep that is stuck on.

Thanks Lyndel.

LOL, Ernie. Yes, I want to be known as the guy who setup clients Pronto's to squeel...hehee

Maybe the client was gripping it too tightly?

Hey Ernie,

By the way, I saw Hank from URC at CEDIA and sat through one of his classes. He dropped your name several times...FYI - you are famous...

One other interesting item, though. It did not squeel when downloaded to a pronto with the earlier firmware in it. Only when loaded on a pronto with the latest firmware.

Dave,

Email the PCF to the ProntoTeam and indicate this is a problem with the latest firmware.
