Odd problem with the soft buttons. When pressed, no reaction from the remote; no IR, no jumps, nothing. But, the backlight does come on when the screen is touched. Hard buttons work all the time.
The remote laughs at reset button and battery removal. But, if you leave it alone for several hours, it works again.
I haven't made any changes to my pcf that would correspond with this new problem (if people are thinking system page).
I am presently doing an overnight charge and will re-flash the firmware. Any other ideas? Anyone else seen this?

Similar symptoms have been reported before. A re-flash and 2nd download of the PCF have fixed the problem. Also, download the latest firmware/software from Philips if at all possible.

I would try the screen calibration, although it sounds simplistic.

Well, I re-flashed the v. 1.5.5 firmware, replaced the pcf, reloaded and still had no joy. Re-flashed again hoping to add an older version of my pcf back on, and now I can't get past the 3rd calibration corner. I have seen plenty of people with this problem, but no answers in any of the threads I've read. This is the serious version where using a stylus and being EXTREMELY precise does not work.
I'm about ready to chuck this thing against a wall. And we've been so happy together for the last year...

Search for posts from me on Calibration. There was something funky I had to do to get the bottom right corner calibration early on in 7000 beta testing. I did not press the dot in the center of the 4 arrows but had to press 2 pixels away to get calibration to take.
Do a search and give it a try.

I got it calibrated after much ado, and loaded an older version of my pcf. It worked for a while, but is now non-responisve again. I've never had these problems before - is this a result of the latest firmware?

Load and save a copy of your old PCF using the new software. Then download the new PCF and give it a shot. Remember to keep a backup.
