My apologies if this has already been covered but do you know if the 3000 is to be a Worldwide product or are there plans for a European equivalent, as per the previous Pronto models?

Since it has RF, there will need to be a European model to meet those specs.

What about the light sensor? I don't think that the European would have that in it anyways.

there was something that was an environmental toxin in the original light sensor, that made Philips drop it from their 1000. But the sensor in this one might not be problematic. So if there is a European Pronto NG and if it will have a sensor is anyone's guess

They were forced to drop the sensor, not merely because they were "illegal" to use in Europe, but also because the unit was merely MADE in Belgium.

I'm sure the new sensor is environmently friendly.

Oh so this could be a different kind of light sensor? that would be nice. Well for European contries.

I live in the UK and was planning on selling my 2000 and getting the 3000 shipped from USA when it was released.

Will this work ok with RF signals or does the UK use differant bands to the US?

they use different bands. Physically it should still work. But it is illegal to use it

I would assume you'd also have to make sure that your RF extenders match the remote - European extenders would only work with the European remote, for example.

According to the manual - the extenders are the same ones currently on sale for the ProntoPro.

If they use different bands how will it work, I want to control UK X10 components.

the electromagnetic spectrum is very large. some parts have been set globally, while others are set by the countries themselves. The part of the spectrum that was set for stuff like the Pronto do not match in the US and UK. So the US Pronto works in a frequency that is used for something else in the UK. RF is regulated since one RF device can interfere with an other.
