After 2 weeks of manipulating the codes in the Cinema6, I have satisfactorally programmed mine so my family can operate it also. I will share them later in this thread after I set this up.

Sorry, wrong key! Sent to early. My receiver does not have s-video input/output so I am forced to use the following on my TV (RCA46):
INPUT 1, S-video(DVD), INPUT 2, RCA (DBS) Antenna A, Coaxial (local antenna) and Antenna B, Coaxial
(VCR). Access to Antenna B is via the TV menu, channel, and signal source. I then set up Macro 2 to select this. (Setup, 995, Macro2, TV, Menu, 5(channel),3 (signal source), 2, (ANT B), 0 (exit),
0(exit), 03 (channel), VCR, Setup) A similar sequence was set up on Macro1 to reverse this one.
I chose the macros because the sequence would'nt fit on the L keys which are set up like so:

View local antenna "1L"
SETUP, 995, 1L, RCVR, POWER, 7 (output), TV, POWER, 04, (chan), SETUP

View DBS "2L"

Sorry, did it again!

View DBS "2L"
SETUP, 995, 2L, RCVR, POWER, 4 (output), TV, POWER, 02 (chan), CH down (INPUT 2), CBL/SAT, POWER, SETUP

View DVD "3L"
SETUP, 995, 3L, RCVR, POWER, 9 (output), TV, POWER, 02 (chan), CH down, CH down, (INPUT 1),
DVD/LD, POWER, SETUP

View VCR "4L"
SETUP, 995, 4L, RCVR, POWER, 5 (output), TV, POWER, 03 (chan), VCR, POWER, SETUP
MACRO2 must be pressed to access vcr signal.

Take note, the component in use was selected last to allow the continued key functions for that device. I hope this can be helpful to others out there, but more importantly, is anyone aware of an easier set up for my system. I could not decipher OFA's advanced codes to the degree that would allow me fewer key strokes to access the other signal on ANT B.

My apologies for the errors in this thread. Dennis

I was lucky to find discrete off codes for all of my devices including a JVC SVHS VCR, Pioneer DVD, SONY A4 DSS, Pioneer CD, Sony A/V Receiver, and Sony TV. The setup I currently have is listed here for anyone to examine. Listed first are the keys I remapped or advance code programmed.

Device button action
------- -------- ---------
DSS PREV CH jump
DVD REC eject
TV POWER disc. ON
TV 4L disc. OFF
TV 3L Video 1
TV setup+TV/VCR Tuner
RCVR 2 DSS select
RCVR 4L disc. OFF
SAT 4L disc. OFF
DVD 4L disc. OFF
VCR 4L disc. OFF
CD 4L disc. OFF

Macros
---------------------------------------------
"ALL OFF" - Setup+EXIT button:
TV,4L,RCVR,4L,VCR,4L,SAT,4L,DVD,4L,CD,4L

"Watch DSS" - 1L button:
TV,POWER,RCVR,2,SAT,POWER,TV,3L,SAT

"Watch CABLE TV" - Setup+1L button:
TV,POWER,RCVR,4L,SAT,4L,TV,SETUP,TV/VCR

"Watch Videotape" - 2L button:
TV,POWER,RCVR,4,VCR,POWER,SAT,4L,TV,3L,VCR

"Watch DVD" - Setup+2L button.
TV,POWER,RCVR,9,DVD,POWER,SAT,4L,TV,3L,DVD,REC

These are the four most frequent things I do in order of frequency. Putting them on the numbered L keys makes remembering where they are simpler than having used the macro keys. The ALL OFF macro was intentionally set on SETUP+EXIT so that it would not be hit accidently. "EXIT" seemed like the best prelabelled button to mean "ALL OFF". The number following my RCVR in each macro discretely turns ON my RCVR in the appropriate device mode. If the receiver was already on then it just switches it to the right device. Since I did not change POWER to a discrete code except on my TV device I make sure I press ALL OFF after watching a video tape or DVD to make sure those devices aren't left ON and would toggle OFF the next time I ran their macros.

David,

Where did you find the discrete on/off codes for your Sony receiver? I have looked but did not see anything that resembles discrete "on". I have to assume that you are using code 0158. Could you tell me the discrete on/off codes?

Thanks,
Davis

According to a list rec'd from OFA for code 0158, power off is 621. I have not tried it, so I can't confirm. Looking for additional ones for my Sony DVD, DBS, VCR, and RCA TV.

Dennis,

I also saw the power off code that you mention, but I can't find the discrete for on. I also have a Sony DVD and VCR, so let me know if you come up with anything new on those. I sent an email to OFA about a week ago, but they have not responded.

Davis W: Yesterday I discovered through trial and error, that Sony uses the discrete POWER OFF code of 621 for all of my Sony components, ie; DVD, DBS, VCR and Receiver. POWER OFF for my RCA TV is
731. Tried each one successfully but was not as lucky (yet) applying them to a macro.

As for my above mentioned setup, I have eliminated the VCR input with a splitter (duh!) and simply set it up on channel 3. I then deleted the 2 macro sequences which I can use for my discrete offs. I would prefer to use a two button stroke to prevent accidental shut downs. Anybody care to help? Thanks, Dennis.

My SONY TV, DSS Receiver, and A/V receiver all use code:

109 for discrete OFF and
113 for discrete ON.

There is a fixed set of 256 codes for each device that simply repeat as you count above 256. 109 is THE SAME as 356 or 621. 113 is the same as 369 or 625.

I think I finally have my Cinema 6 and system set up in a user friendly manner. I used the "L" keys for each of the 4 fucntions, TV, DBS, DVD, & VCR, and a macro key for "all power off". I have'nt had any luck with the SONY soundfields though it is not really a priority. What the heck, I do have to get up occasionally! I would like next to develop a macro that would switch from antenna to DBS and vise/versa with limited key strokes, and have'nt used Macro 2 yet. Will work on that one.
All in all, this is an awesome remote when you compare it's ability and cost and also, when I bought mine I also purchased 2, four battery packs
figuring I'd need to replace the first set after the programming. Two weeks now on the origionals and still strong (and I have done alot of programming on this remote)
