Curious about what this port might do, I emailed OneforAll and asked. Here's what I received as a reply from them today: >> Thank you for your inquiry. The Cinema6 and Cinema7 are not upgradeable remotes. These remotes are not able to be programmed via
PC.

The battery compartment port mentioned in the Wasser page is the 3-pin one found on older One for All remotes. The 6-pin connector on newer OFA remotes is not a serial port, it connects directly to the on-board memory for factory programming using a special (non-PC) test system. Connecting a serial cable to it will, at best, not work; at worst, will smoke the remote.
