Hey all,

Working on a System at the moment and wondering if anyone knows how to trigger a macro within the MSC400 with out using a Universal Remote.

I am working on a multi room system with only supports RS232, Therefor, In the Main Theater i will be Using a MX950 with an MSC400, In the Living Room (Multi Zone 1) I will also be using a MX950, But the Client also wants an On-Wall Keypad in that zone as well. (BTW the Multi Room System is all Part of the Home Theater System) and in Drawing Room (Multi Zone 2) They only wish to have a Keypad on the Wall.
Hence i am stumped as to make this work. So i was hoping someone knew of a way to trigger macro's from the MSC400 without needing a remote, Just RS232 or IR from a Keypad.

Please help

You likely are in for a lot of trouble because the MSC-400 is triggered by RF only. This is how I understand it from what I have been able to learn about MSC-400.

The RTI RP6 controller, which is similar to the MSC-400, can be triggered from its IR input as well as from RF remotes. Makes it easy to add third party keypads that trigger macros in the controller.

I'm surprised the MSC-400 doesn't provide a similar feature.

I believe the 400 has an IR input. You would need to program the macro into the keypad. Since it is wired it should be rock solid stable.
Better is the nemesis of good.

Can't you trigger it from a sensor?

I have Just noticed the IR Input Connector, I have just downloaded the Codes and set them to IR,
My only problem is i Dont have a MSC400 yet, Im waiting for them to arrive in my country.

Does anyone else have one that could test this for me?
Providing this works, I feel i could sell a bucket load of these

You cannot trigger a macro via an RS-232 command or an IR command via the IR input.

However, you can trigger a macro via a voltage sensor into any of the six sensor inputs. The macro can be triggered when the voltage is on, another macro can be triggered when the voltage is off. If you needed it, you could program another macro that is triggered whenever the voltage goes on or off. Of course you would need an IR to relay device such as Xantech's to send the voltage based on an IR command from the keypad.

Best Regards,

-Eric
