TWC Houston has just rolled out the SA-8000 HD DVR and i'm thinking about swapping out this weekend.

Does anyone have any experience with the mx500's and this STB? I've read a bunch of threads were tivos' and SAT DVR's have caused some problems and I'm just wondering what I'm in for.

I have the IRClone but must admit I haven't gotten very far with it.

thanks
Jim in Houston

I haven't used that particular DVR, but I haven't had a problem learning commands to the MX-500 from other DVR remotes. Regardless, I wouldn't be without my HD Tivo even if I had to use the original remote with it. ;-)

Has anyone used this DVR (with or without the MX-500)? I really want someone to tell me what options there are on it to adjust the output aspect ratios. I'm having problems getting HDTV because my TV has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Short of going to another TV, I was hoping this DVR might be the answer.

I'm currently using the MX-500 with the non-HD version of this DVR and it works flawlessly. In fact, I didn't even have to learn most of the commands as they're identical to the non-DVR (3200?) box I had before. I just learned the transport functions and other advanced features and was good to go.

god helps those who help themselves.

I have an email from a customer with that exact model saying that the MX-600 works fine (and it's the same remote as the MX-500) so you shouldn't have any trouble with it.
