After installing the mx-950 editor, and doing the update, I plugged my remote in, and I get a "USB Device not Recognized" windows error. Do we have drivers for this pig, or what. I tried calling URC, but they seemed a little backed up in the tech support side of things.

Hmmmm...would you be opposed to uninstalling and re-installing ActiveSync, to see if that may be the problem? Sometimes it works with this problem and the MX-3000...this may be the same (or similar) situation.

Let me know if that helps.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Make sure active sync is installed properly as this remote is a Windows CE machine like the 3000, they require Activesync

Sorry, by the time I posted Damon had already done so.

hey Kc,

Are you connecting the remote before opening the editor? Check your device manager for an unknown device(with the yellow questionn mark). If there is one delete it and reinstall the software, then connect the remote. Worth a shot. hope it helps!

I just reainstalled blasted active sync. I have more problems with that thing. I don't ever connect the remote before opening the editor, but that is a good thought. I'll try and reinstall activesync AGAIN...

One other thing that might work.
Try to do a factory default while the remote is connected to the pc. This could retime the connection. Active sync is a real pain in the rear.

Since this newest update to the mx3000, I had to reinstall both the program and the M$ ActiveSync becuase I lost connectivity. On multiple computers too!

I had to dick around with active sync to get the thing to recognize, but I did get it working. Thanks for the suggestions all.

KC,

If you have time, do you think you can post your process, just in case anyone else runs into that issue? If that's too much to simply type out, I could totally understand. :)

Thank you,
Damon DG

Well, honestly, Active sync doesn't really reinstall that well in association with the MXeditors. I blame Micro$oft. I tried anyway, and got all the Active sync garbage that comes with a stand alone install. Device searching and port recognition, and partnership establishments. Ultimatly if you do it this way, make sure the remote is plugged in, then when it is searching for devices, active the remote. It'll find it and set it up. This is a big pain in the neck and over the course of this time, I uninstalled everything multiple times. I reinstalled both the MX3000 editor and the 950 editor, then everything seemed to work. Just stupid overall.

I too had this problem - searched the forum - and found this thread.

The error message I was receiving was "Unable to Connect."

I went to Control Panel>Add remove Programs
Selected Microsoft Activesync - and then remove
It asked if I wanted to delete any sync files - I selected yes

Here is the microsoft download site: [Link: microsoft.com]

Search for activesync - and 3.8 came out in Jan 05

I reinstalled that - with the remote connected - and all is well.
