This thing looks AWESOME. It will for sure be a major competitor to the RC2000mkII. If it had built-in RF I would consider it over the T2.

With these two MX remotes HTM is offering a mighty impressive selection for high-end users.

This remote does offer a joystick, right? It sure looks like one in the picture. If so, I'd rather get this than the mx-1000. I prefer hard buttons.

No, it doesn't have a joystick. It seems to be solid black plastic 4-way rocker surrounding an "enter" button.

This seems like the perfect upgrade from a 15-1994... It adds an LCD and lots more learning...

I'll be first in line!

Not perfect...you would loose the advanced codes, which are...well...awesome. So you will probably not be able to program functions that are not present on your original remote (e.g. discrete codes).

But then...wait...you'd still have your 15-1994. So my remark is only true for remote-virgins. And all it would take for them is just another $30.

Or the C7 for $20 (who needs style if you're just stealing codes). :-)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... I thought I wanted an MX-1000, now I'm not so sure. Wow, the uni-remote control scene has sure fired up in the last few months (and within a few months)..... UCommmand 515, 616, Director, MX-1000, MX-500, new Prontos, Sony 2100, etc. Whew!!!

Wow, that MX-500 sure looks like a beauty! And the price range is right there! Once again, hmmmmmmmm....

I'm confused - if it can learn all the codes, why do you need advanced codes? Personally I'm only controlling a TV, VCR, Reciever, DVD, ReplayTV and X-10 (I have an IR->X10 (IR243))

Basically for stuff you don't already have. Say discrete power, input, etc.

Arjen: As far as I'm concerned, the MK II will be no competition for the MX-500. The 500 is more universally based, not leaning toward Marantz. And the ergonomics look WAY better!

Now that the MX-1000 is here, the wait is over.
Where and when can I order a MX-500?

Love the keys, programmable LCD-keys, program memories, the dual ring menu/transport control and the device key macros/learner.

Does it has PC/web loadable capabilities?

Looks like:

1) Sometime in December.

2) Doesn't look like it.

Amazing though, in this time of wonderful technology, how easy it is to change "Shipping in December" to "Shipping in January" on the website, in reference to the MX-500.

Thank goodness the MX-1000 did finally make it to the consumer, along with the software, so we do actually have hope that the MX-500 will ship!
