I have a Sony C600D DVD player and was wondering if anyone is able to use this remote/dvd combo to do the jog/shuttle type rev/ff.

Yes, though it takes some creative button assignment. The Sony DVD jog/shuttle only has four signals: shuttle faster/slower, and jog forward/backward.
