Well, the 490 is part of their Complete Control line so I thought that it required software but I just googled it and found:  [Link: urc-automation.com] does say it doesn't need software.  Why would they put a non-programmable remote in their Complete Control line?

There is an IRClone-MX device available on eBay. With this the MX500 becomes a fully computer programmable remote by taking advantage of the clone feature.

All the software required is available here on Remote Central.

I remember the IRClone website going dark around 2006 or so. I did not know Daniel added the software to RemoteCentral. I found it here:

and the owner who created it was the member who made the last post here:

Hmm, I thought I added it ;)
I am still IRClone with 6 remotes (MX500s & MX600s) 20+ years later. There have been dozens of different devices in my systems over the years and I've never had a problem controlling any of them. The CCF2MX utility is very useful for adding hex codes to the remote.

You're right. My apologies. I had found a post from Daniel that said he added it. I guess he meant he added YOUR file :)

Not sure what might have happened with your rubber pad swap but normally programming isn't "lost" on individual buttons.

So, you did try the codes that Brad commented about (Try Sunfire codes = 246, 344, 345) on the new remote?

Could it be that the Gunfire codes (246, 344, 345) are blocked for "normal" URC remotes? My MX600 doesn't take these codes. Unfortunately none of the Carver cords works neither :-( I've got a Gunfire Theater Grand from a friend without its remote and still got a MX600 sleeping under my bed for years. Now I wanted to use it for the Sunfire Pre/Pro, but without the original remote Won't be able to learn the functions to my MX600...

best regards
Thierry

The manual for the MX600 shows those are the codes for Sunfire products and are valid for that remote. Are you selecting P-PRO from the menu and then selecting AUDIO as the device you want to program?

Remember, if you learned codes on buttons for the AUDIO device before.... those have to be erased before the new P-PRO code will work. Otherwise the remote will ignore the new codes and continue transmitting the learned commands from before.
If in doubt, factory reset the remote and start from scratch.

If you changed the position of the Audio device on URC remote, remember the Audio codes will always come from the library of the original Audio position. No matter what the original Audio position is currently.

Hi Brad,
I downloaded the online version of the manual for the MX-600 that can be found here and I didn't see the Sunfire codes in it. And yes P-PRO, then Audio. When I entered the Carver Codes this "stayed" on the display of the remote whereas when I entered the three codes you provided they immediately disappeared with blinking ---, then the "old" code reappeared. I will retry them after a factory reset.
I didn't change the position of Audio.
Thanks a lot Brad and Edmund for your quick reactions.
