first, what a fantastic site, thanks so much for being here!

many moons ago i used an mx-500 remote with the av setup in my restaurant, it was fantastic, durable, and easy for the staff to use, the chunky buttons and simple lcd layout was just what the doctored ordered...

flash forward to today and i have a new av setup at my restaurant, my old mx-500 is long gone, and i want another remote that's similar. i recently purchased the harmony 650 but returned it, didn't like the layout, plus it struck me as far too fragile for my environment, didn't think it would hold up... however all of my devices were included in harmony's database which made it a snap to get up and running, it was really fantastic to have all of the codes ready to rock and roll.

anyway i've since purchased a few legacy mx remotes, a new in box mx-500 as a backup, and an mx-700 and mx-850, both in fantastic condition, all three for under $100, they are all just too perfectly chunky and well made for my needs that i really want to use one rather than go with a current remote.

the 850 hasn't arrived last night i had a chance to play around with the mx-700 and its software, seems pretty straight forward, and i'll get a chance to roll up my sleeves with it over the weekend. i noticed that files can be uploaded through the software, and then downloaded to the remote, so my question is, finally, is it possible to find harmony files with current device codes that can be converted or edited in order that they can uploaded to the mx editor software? if not, is there a resource where i can find codes for current devices that i can upload to the mx software?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

btw, ordered a rs232 3.5mm data cable from amazon which didn't work with my keyspan usb/serial adapter.. found a guy on ebay who sold the cables, asked him why he thought the amazon cable didn't work, and he said because the transmit and receive wires were most likely pinned in reverse... took a pair of scissors, cut the cable, 2 wires and a ground inside the jacket, reversed spliced the 2 wires and it worked like a charm!
