Trying to reprogram my MX-850 for some new hardware. Hitting the download button gives me an error saying the com port (1) is being used by another program. But I checked in device manager and com1 has no conflicts.
I've rebooted the machine a couple times and unplugged the cable many times. Always the same error message. Any ideas what is wrong anyone?

Well, I finally figured it out. I found out my Palm Pilot was trying to use Com Port 1 as well.
Turning off the Hot Sync didn't fix it. Uninstalling the Palm software didn't help.
But in the ActiveSync there was the USB box checked and the Com Port 1 box checked. Unchecking the Com1 box fixed it. This makes no sense the box was even checked as the Palm is strictly a USB connection.
Anyway, I'm going to reinstall the Palm software and see if it checks the Com1 box again.
