Check this out...
[Link: viewsonic.com]

This comes with wireless cards for computer, nevo software and an upgrade version of XP Pro for windows for $999.

Main Lobby remote program would look good on it.

Archer, if you look in some of the threads, you will see it has been discussed before.

Yes is mentioned in two lines with no link to where, pricing, just trying to help inform. Sorry if you think this is redundant.

Archer,

When talking about the Airpanel, you were mentioning something like "Main Lobby remote program would look good on it", what do you mean by this?
Is this a IR program like NEVO on WinCE?

With kind regards,

Arne

So what actually sends the IR, the airpanel or your PC? My PC is not in the same room as my HT. So I would need the IR on the "remote" (be it airpanel, iPronto, etc.). The only other thing that concerns me is I think I would miss having a few hard buttons...

looked at the specs, and there is no IR emiter (not even IRDA. There is a NEVO add-on, but if it is anything like the PDA version then you cannot use the IR except with NEVO and NEVO does not have much customization.

I think most people use them as a remote desktop for a PC. And it is the PC that does all the work.

Does anyone know if an IR emitter will get added to a future model of the airpanel?

I am currently using the airpanel with mainlobby, have both the 10" and 15", 10" works much better as a remote, due to it's size. I use the 15" on it's stand on the coffee table in the living room. Works much better than my ipaperweight

himber, I would love to do that, but I don't have PC in the HT room to do the IR. I want the airpanel to do the IR emitting. I would much rather have a bona fide XP machine (to do REAL web surfing, email, etc.) as a remote rather than the iPronto which can sorta do web stuff. But I don't want the XP "touchpanel" to have to depend on anything else (like another PC to send the IR signals). The only thing I'm not sure of is if I would miss the dedicated remote control hard buttons. But as it stands currently, it still looks like the iPronto is the closet thing to what I want. I just wish they would hurry up fix the damn thing. At this rate, I might as well wait and see what the next model of airpanel will be able to do...

hi,
i am in the same boat as a lot of people in this forum. loved the iPronto in theory, but have been scared off by the comments. I am considering instead, the Cinemar Software and a touchscreen. However, noone has mentioned how the IR signals are sent. On Cinemar's website, they have something called a Slink-e. It that what does it?

I HAVE A VIEWSONIC V110. AND JUST IN THE LAST FEW DAYS VIEWSONIC SENT ME A NEVO HOME CONTROL PC CARD AND SOFTWARE. THEY PROVIDED IT TO ME FREE OF CHARGES, I BOUGHT THE SYSTEM A FEW MONTHS BACK AND THE HAD A REGISTION FOR PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THE SYSTEM EARLIE. THE PC CARD IS PLACED IN THE PC SLOT AT THE TOP OF THE UNIT AND THE SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED INTO THE AIRPANEL YOU WAS OF THE BLUE INSTALL CABLE. THE SYSTEM IS ONLY A IR SIGNAL BUT IT WORKS GREAT WITH THE LEAPFROG SYSTEM THAT IS IN THE CLOSET WITH THE REST OF MY STEREO EQUIPMENT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT [email protected].

You could probably buy the NTX6400 when its available, and use the Airpanel with that.
