I attended a TSU-3000 and TSi-6400 class today and aquired a copy of the iPronto Edit software.

First off I must say that it seems to me that the iPronto has a fair ammount development time ahead of it still. I would be quite suprised to see this product release in March as they stated today. Maybe they are much farther ahead than the sample we were shown.

There design of the iPronto is such that they must be planning many many "software/firmware" upgrades. For instance the stereo speakers. In it's current form it can not play any type of imported audio files only the intro song and the various click and beeps for button presses. Then there is the microphone, as of right now it is inactive.

Some other issues should easily be fixed in the updated iPronto edit software versions. For instance the hard button commands are global right now not page/device specific.

Many people brought up the charging station issue, so you may even see some hardware changes before it is released. At the very least a new battery cover that would have contacts for a future charging station.

More Later.....

P.S. Daniel I would be glad to rip a copy of the disc and send it to you if you would like.

So, are you taking bribes to share this or are you under some sort of "thou shall not share" agreement?

I guess I can wait, but I would really like the chance to take a look.

Well we were not given any non disclosure to sign or anything like that but it is clearly a unfinished software product. I really don't want people to start posting that the new philips sucks because it can't do this or that. I don't think that would be fair to Philips.

We are sorta beta testing and have been instructed to e-mail bugs or quirks that we find. For that matter any recomendations pertaining to hardware, software, or accessories.

For what it's worth the software looks alot like Pronto Edit NG. For that matter there is also a copy of NG

The way I would like to handle it would be to offer a copy to Daniel. Then he can check with his contact(s) at Philips to see if they are ok with him posting it for download.

The total contence of the disc is as follows:
"Pronto Edit NG Final"
"Owners Manual for the TSU-3000" (pdf)
"iPronto Edit v. 1.0"
"iProntoEdit V1.1_Test Report_2K" (excel)
"Software Release V1.1 Report TSI6400 W248.1" (word)

What version of Pronto Edit NG Final was included? We are using version 1.0.21.0 right now.

Well that part is a little strange now that I look at it.

There is a folder called "Final PrnotoEditNG Setup"
within the folder are subfolders for "Acrobat Reader","Manuals" and an application called "Pronto Edit Setup" file version is listed as 4.0.100.1190. It states nothing about NG.

During installation of the above app it created a folder called "Pronto Edit Gallery.gef". Then went on to install Pronto Edit NG the final install was indeed 1.0.21.0

I found out what the .gef files are for in the iPronto Edit Help.

Gallery
The Gallery is a very efficient tool to design buttons on a page.
The look of a button in your configuration file depends on the bitmap assigned to the button. The Gallery offers you an extensive series of bitmaps and buttons, grouped in several categories. You can easily browse through the list of bitmaps and buttons. Bitmaps are displayed with a preview and their dimensions. Buttons are displayed with a preview, their dimensions and their label.
You can personalize the Bitmap Gallery and the Button Gallery by creating new categories, importing new bitmaps and buttons and removing categories, bitmaps or buttons from the Gallery.
You can also import and export a Gallery, containing bitmaps and buttons, to exchange bitmaps and buttons with other iPronto users. The iPronto bitmaps and buttons are stored in a Gallery Export File or '.gef' file.

Export a Gallery
From the File menu, select Export Gallery.
The 'Save as' window appears.

Browse to the location where you want to store the Gallery.

Click Save.
The bitmaps and buttons in the Gallery are saved in a Gallery Export File or '.gef' file.
-or-
Click Cancel.
The 'Save as' window closes without exporting the bitmaps and buttons in the iProntoEdit Gallery.

Import a Gallery
From the File menu, select Import Gallery.
The 'Open' window appears.

Browse to the location where the Gallery is stored.

Select the Gallery you want to import.

Click Open.
A message window appears:

Click 'Merge' to merge the new Gallery with the existing one.

Click 'Replace' to replace the existing Gallery with the new Gallery.

The bitmaps and the buttons in the '.gef' file are added to the iProntoEdit Gallery.
-or-
Click Cancel.
The message window closes without importing the Gallery.
