It's been a very long time since I've had to update my H688 remote and was hoping you guys could help simplify things for me. I have a PS3 and picked up the Nyko Bluewave remote to control the DVD player (Having 2 remotes for something as simple as watching a DVD kills my wife). The only DVD device is the PS3 and I want to set it up. Do I choose a PS2 as the device and it will automatically use the codes the Nyko would use or do I choose the PS3 and learn each button? It seems enough people have used the Nyko now that Logitec would have it built in but I couldn't find anything doing a search in their forums or this one one the specifics of which device to choose etc. Thanks

Thanks i found it under "game systems (with dvd)". you will have to go under customize buttons and set up the menu, info, exit commands, however, since the only ones that are already in there are play, ff, rw, track fwd and back, etc.

Thanks. Logitech support said it should all be there automatically if I chose PS3 and all of the commends were there and in my remote but not one worked on the PS3. Had to learn each function from the Nyko remote which it too bad since the PS3 remote has so many more commands.

You, of course won't be able to power on (or off) the PS3 from the Nyko USB dongle. Not sure if that is a dealbreaker for you, it was for me. I'm still waiting for an ideal PS3 (or even a generic) IR-to-Bluetooth translation/conversion device.

Schmartz.com makes a Sony PS3 IR Upgrade with Power ON/OFF Control. The price is $50 and it appears to be made by an individual. The site has NO mailing address so its buyer beware. The Link is: [Link: schmartz.com]

Amorenod, thanks for pointing the "Terms & Conditions" link (at the bottom of the Home page) which gives the mailing address.

Totally recommended, mine arrived 10 days after purchasing Which ps3 playback buttons are you able to map with his solution? Obviously the power button is now available (interesting solution... it actually presses the power button!), but is it otherwise just what you can do with a ps3 game controller or with a nyko?

Yes, no difference there. No USB IR solution can do more than the 14 commands available.
The main pros are:
-Better looking, nearly melts with the console.
-Maps itself as controller #2 when switching the console On with the sixaxis. The Logic3 (I think the Nyko too) maps as controller #1, forcing the sixaxis to #2, which is a problem for starting some games, like Motorstorm, unless remapping the sixaxis to #1
-Unaffected (so far) by firmware updates. The 2.00 update introduced a lag to both the Nyko and Logic3 dongles, solved in 2.01.
-No need to use clean codes for direction buttons or to teach them, the standard PS2 codeset works as it should.
