Hi guys, My TV is a panasonic 42py700. when i use the original remote, to get to the correct source, i have the press the AV button a few times to get to the correct input. sequence as follow: AV1 AV2 AV3 PC HDMI1 HDMI2 HDMI3 HDMI4 TV My digital setop box is in AV1, DVD is thru HDMI1. Whenever i press Play TV, all inputs are correct. Then when i press DVD, its goes to PC. Then i press the help button several times, it adjusts to HDMI1, I exit HELP. When I press Play TV again, now it goes to TV, not AV1 anymore, i press help again, it goes to the correct input. I Play DVD again, Wrong input again! Very frustrating, can some kind souls help me pls!

It sounds as if you're using Method 1 instead of Method 2 for setting your inputs. Using the right one should solve the problem - come back if it doesn't.

2 possible causes - the list of inputs in the harmony software does not match the TV exactly (go to TV device, Adjust Inputs to correct) OR (more likely) the tv is missing one or more of the "next input" commands due to a timing issue. Increase the inter-device delay to fix that.

I have to select method one, bacause i do not have a shortcut to the various inputs , on my original remote. i have to press AV, then scroll down to the input

Try all the input commands in device mode paying attention to their behaviour (toggle/cycling vs discrete action). Many devices support discrete input commands even if they are not on the OEM remote. If your TV supports discrete commands (tested in device mode), then use method 2. You don't need the OEM remote to configure your Harmony. Just select the appropriate commands from the drop-down list.

i do not have a shortcut to the various inputs , on my original remote. You don't have them on the original remote, but you DO have them in the Harmony database. To make use of them follow the method given by jlet in #5.

u tried 0 to 9, it all corresponds to the the TV channels, none go to AV.... No, first try all the commands starting with "Input" in Device mode. If they work properly, then you reconfigure the device Adjust input accordingly. If you have to use the cycling method, then read Akirby's post #3 above.

There are actually 3 ways to get a Panasonic TV to the correct input. Cycling is the slowest. You can also press TV/Video then 1, 2 or whatever input is needed. The Discrete button method also works. If there are no Input buttons in the Device mode then the Support team should be able to add them for you. I was using the second method myself and found it prone to errors.I called Harmony support and had them add discretes. I then was able to use Method 2 as described in posts 2 and 5 above. Now the Panny goes to the correct input every time.

I first used Method 1 (cycling). Then I discovered I could quicken the time to get to an input by using Method 4 (TV/Video then a number key). After I got the discretes added I then used Method 2.

I dont think there are input buttons in my Harmony. How do i ask Logitech to add for me?

I dont think there are input buttons in my Harmony. jlet explained in #5 what they are. Discrete commands are separate commands, one for each of the input sockets on your TV, that you can use individually instead of cycling through the list. I said in #7 that the Harmony database DOES have them for your device. They don't appear on your original remote but they have been provided as a bonus for use on Harmonys. In the software go to Devices> TV> Settings> Customise Buttons, press one of the down-arrows under Commands and you will see that the drop-down list includes commands with names beginning with Input. You should test those that you need, then if they work use method 2 to set them.

If you have to use the cycling method, then read Akirby's post #3 above. On the harmony, under device, i select TV. on the touch screen i can only see power toggle, red, blue, yellow, tv/av etc. none of these works as a direct shortcut. only tv/av, but i got to press several times to get to the Input type.
