I see references to an 890 Pro but there is no such product on the Logitech website. Is the "Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote" equivalent to the 890 Pro? If not, where are the differences and purchases documented?

Thanks for help

Only the PRO Versions will have the word "Pro" in its name/title. The "Advanced Universal Remote" is generic and applies to most (if not all) Harmony models. It seems that the 880 and 890 PRO versions are available only through custom/professional installers. This was probably a Logitech marketing decision to give an edge to the professional installers. I you do a 890 Pro search on this forum, you will find threads like these:

You can see the 890 & 890 PRO models from this Logitech Press Room path:

Im still confused on this issue... If the new 880 pro can do RF why would you go to an 890 or 890 pro? As far as i know the difference between the 880 and 890 was the RF capability? I work at a custom a/v outfitter and we sell the 880 and 890 pro's and not even my sales rep could tell the differences. Someone please help!

As far as I know, the 880 Pro or otherwise does NOT do RF.

From what I read, the 880 PRO is an 880 plus the picture & sound buttons
The 890 adds RF function.
890 PRO
- black with silver trim
- adds two buttons "Sound" & "Picture" (below the channel rocker & volume rocker) which can be mapped
- still supports Z-Wave (I think the 890 non-PRO does as well)
- RF remote extender separate (included with 890 non-PRO) I got mine free with my 890 PRO from Crutchfield in 12/07
- now sold on Amazon & Crutchfield

The difference has to do with the RF Extenders. With the 890, one extender can only be controlled by one remote. With the 890 pro, you can use more than one remote to control one extender.

This is useful if you want to distribute the output of a device to multiple rooms and be able to control the device from different remotes. With the 890 you would need to put a different extender on the same piece of equipment for each remote you want to control it with. The 890 pro eliminates that.

Also, the software is different.

[This is the information that I got from Logitech 2nd level support.... most people in Logitech don't even know the 890 pro exists.]
