I'm looking for a Profile 2.0 Blu-Ray player.
Wants would include: Load times of under 30 seconds. SACD support would be nice, but not required. Needs component video out. (Haven't upgraded the projector yet, still 720p) Firmware Updates via Ethernet. Discrete On/Off, or a workaround.
I'd like a price of under $600.
I think the PS3 is ok, but think it is not what I want from an ease of use standpoint for the rest of the family.

Panny DMP-BD35K and DMP-BD55K will fit the bill, although the load times are a bit longer than you specify. If the particular disc you are playing uses Java, the load times are likely going to be significantly longer than 30sec. But I think the Pannys have just about the shortest load time of any standalone player.
The load times of all the currently available standalone players do not match those of the PS3.

It's sad that the PS3, released in 2006, is still the best performing BD player.

The Panny's will not do SACD. There is an Oppo player coming that will. Should fit the price range.
