If I understand correctly, you have 3 open channels that you've created to accept your own broadcasts, like from security monitors. If this is a correct understanding, I can't think of any reason why you couldn't send broadcasts on these open channels from a VCR, DVD player or DVDR. For the component aspect, you would have to run component out from the source to the monitors or whatever you were using. Certainly a lot more expensive than running coax. As for sending digital audio, as long as that is what you're outputting, it would be carried on a digital coax cable as well, unless you were running optical. It sounds like you have a Sony upconverting DVD player. The limiting factor probably would be the same problems encountered with using an HDMI or DVI switch over a long cable run. You might need an amplifier. I'm no way an expert in all this but it seems like simple logic to me.
Why don't you do it and let us know if it works?
