I have a Curtis Mathis DVD play and a RCA TV. I have a universal remote but cannot find the code for the Curtis Mathis DVD player to program into the Universal Remote. I have gone to every store locally and looked at every brand of universal remote and I cannot find for a Curtis Mathis DVD play a code. Am I out of luck or is there someone who knows how I can find or has the correct code???? Thank you for your help.

You have a universal remote, and expect a code from another remote will work in yours. Get a grip.

What is so odd about this? I have a universal remote and have a RCA TV and a SANYO VCR programed on it - why couldn't a DVD be programed into the universal remote.

You could buy any number of learning remotes and learn the commands from your original remote. Be sure to buy one with enough memory to learn all commands.

It's also not clear if you already have a universal remote, or if you're looking for a new universal remote. If you have a remote, what kind is it? If you're looking for a remote, what are your requirements?

It might also help others here to know the brand and model of your player. I did a search and found references to both "Mathis" and "Mathes" is this a typo?
god helps those who help themselves.
For the rest of us, there's www.google.com

Curtis Mathis doesn't make anything these days. I believe they used to make a high end television set for a stiff price, circa 1970 or so.

Al, does your universal remote have a code search function? That would be the easiest way to get it working.

You could also take the FCC number off the back of your DVD player and search www.fcc.gov for the manufacturer. Try the codes for that manufacturer.

If all else fails, buy a learning remote, as stated above.

As you imply...Curtis Mathes make DVD Players
I knew this was a mistake; my grip on reality's not too good at the best of times. Glitz, in "The Ultimate Foe"

Curtis Mathes apparently has only ever made one model of DVD player. And it seems that it was "Long ago, in a Galaxy far, far away."

Seems that CM filed chapter 11 back in the 1980's and became a house brand first for K-Mart and now is a house brand for Wal-Mart and Sams. (These details found on wikipedia).

Explains why there is no answer to the universal remote question. Well, other than the impression that rwenrwen gave.

Sorry to here from another ower of a CM DVD player.
