Hi, Does anybody know any of the discrete IR codes for LG plasmas. I've got both their 60" and 42" models which use the same remote / commands.
Thanks in advance, Tristan

I posted the commands for the Zenith plasma displays here: [Link: remotecentral.com]I understand that they are the same since LG is Zenith's parent. Could you confirm that they work? -Jon

Tried the most common functions with one of our LG MZ42PZ13 models to no avail except "VID/PC" which toggles as per LG's "Input Select" button and "RGB & Pow" which also does the LG "Input Select" function.
Thanks Anyway, Tristan

Tristan,
I think that it needs a firmware upgrade in the form of a chip. I don't have the equipment or any direct experience but I worked with someone with a Zenith display and the codes did not work until they got a new chip from Korea. The point here is that it is not the codes but getting the IR receiver to recognize them.

Yep, The firmware generally on these plasmas are crap.
Just FYI anybody thinking of purchasing the LG 42 models should know that they can't display a true 16:9 PC image [even at native res!] (as they don't work with the only PDP specific 16:9 PC graphics card, the Imagine Graphics Pixel Perfect cards - all other cards are just rebadged versions of these. Have been to the card manufacturer up the road here in the UK and they state the problem is due to flaky LG firmware and poor timings). This is yet anpther major problem with these screens that LG don't seem to care about!

Hi John,
Here's an example, this is the code learnt to display the "list":
0000 006c 0000 000d 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0c9b
It works once and then I have to play another key in order to be able to make it work once more :-(
I have noticed something else, if I make the pronto learning when I press twice the same key, it works sending twice the signal and I can press teh key again (but it's sending twice the signal again!!) here the code for the same "list" key press twice when learnt:
0000 006c 0041 0000 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0c9b 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0c9b 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0c9b 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 11ed 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020
thanx for helping... it's really driving me mad!!

Jean,
Well, I guess at least the commands *are* different. These are really Philips RC5 protocol with a slightly different frequency and they have the typical toggle bit. One bit toggles back and forth for each successive press of a button. So they can't be learned without getting the behavior you have described.
So try this command and see if it works better:
5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 000F
If that works we can go from there.

Jean,
Either post them here or email the learned codes to me and I will decode them for you.

Hello guys. I got a friend that has a LG 53" projection TV and and a Pronto. He would like be able to select each video input with discrete codes. The problem is that he donīt really know how to use pronto-edit and he donīt have the patience to learn. If any of you guys could help me, I could try to program my Marantz RC5000i and send him the .ccf over the net. Thanks.

Hi T - I love your name by the way :c)
I have a 42" LG and am looking for likewise. Please keep my email address, if you find anything I'd really appreciate you dropping me a line.
Say, does your set support the PIP features?
Thanks a million, T

The only commands that I have that DID work for Jean's 42" LG Plasma were the power command posted above and these that I translated into the RC5 format, so they will do a toggle bit. The Zenith commands are quite different and use the NEC protocol. It would appear that Tristan's hardware responded at least partially to the Zenith plasma codes and Jean's responded to a very different protocol described below.
They appear to be much like RC5 except for having a slightly higher carrier frequency of 38 KHz rather than 36 KHz. Try either the power toggle command above or one below:
5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0025 OK 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0015 multimedia 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0034 blue 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0033 arc 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 003B menu 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0037 red 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0032 yellow 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0016 SSM 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 0036 green 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 000E PSM 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 003E sleep
If they work then you can search for all 128 possible commands by varying the last two digits from 00 to 7F in hex (that equates to 0 through 127 in decimal).
Keep in mind you may hit a factory reset or a service mode and require a factory service call so search for codes at your own risk.
