I was able to generate the IR code for the AppleTV 4 Home key. Here it is in Global Caché format (that I have tested) as well as in HEX format (not tested)

Hello,
I have the Apple 4k 2nd generation and the remote has an onoff toggle button. Would anyone possible have the code for that function?
Thanks in advance.

The first one just acts like a Menu command, the others don't work at all for me. No home command.

ATV functions are spread across 3 devices, 229 and 238 are used for IR codes, 224 is used for Pairing. The ATV will accept any PairID in an IR command out of the box unless you use Pair/Unpair codes. A discussion about pairing is beyond the scope of this forum. The details I provide below should be enough to allow you to generate codesets if needed for testing with IRScrutiner.

Using latest version of IR Scrutinizer (Requires a version released after Jan 2021 to properly generate the Checksum bit)

If you need a long press of 'Home' or 'Menu' and you are Pronto-IR saavy, you can increase the length of this code. In Pronto-Land, all you need to do is to set the minimum duration to 1.0seconds

FYI since I did not find it anywhere else. I was able to take the above Home Function 32 and do a small modification to make it work pretty close to the standard home button. On my MX-980 the below allows single click home and double click to bring up the app switcher/closer on my Apple TV 4K (not the newest one). I can then double click the up arrow to close apps or use right and left to switch apps. The above Home Function 32 just opens the side menu on a single click for me but with both programmed I can shutdown (I just use the off command anyway) or close apps which was what I really needed. Hope is helps you guys. This form has helped me a ton over the last week getting the CCP software installed/setup and adjusting it for my equipment (The remote came with the house lol)

This is the same as the "unmodified" one from Lyndel's post, except for the forth number which has been changed from 0002 to 0000, making the signal invalid, and thus rejected by all/most (?) software.

For Home to be a Single-Shot with good Pronto Hex, it needs to look like this:

Home Function 32
0000 006C 0022 0000 015B 00AD 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 05CB

Apple’s tvOS v 16.1 now provides the ability to learn a HOME button in their standard “Set Up Basic Buttons” option within their “learn remote” feature. It works just like their learning of all the other buttons. It’s the right most icon on the display of basic buttons to be learned.

Once learned it provides normal home button operations, and supports double click for the task manager

You can update your existing learned remote to add this feature as follows

AppleTV > settings > Learned_Remotes > your_learned_remote >
“Set Up Basic Buttons”

Press and hold each of your previously learned basic buttons until you get to the last one where you’ll press and hold a new button for the home button.

Since Apple’s home button icon looks like a rectangle, I’m using my stop button. It feels right.

BTW, I’m using an appleTV 4k 1st generation. I’ve been checking every year or two for a tvOS update that offers this, and when I checked today, it was there.

Happy surprise.

Pete
