Am looking for discrete code to turn the Tivo receiver to standby (off). If it doesn't exist, I'm interested in a workaround.
thanks.

I found this a while back on this Forum. Sorry, I can't remember the author. The stand-by does works for me on a Philips Direct TiVo.

How would I get zhezhang's standy code into an MX-500. I have also have a RS 2104, but can't figure out how to get from here to there with this thing.
Can someone spell it out? I've read the FAQ, I've tried star-code-code-code, buthing seems to work.

Um, how? I would need to get them INTO a remote to learn them into the MX-500. I have tried all instructins I can find to use advanced codes on my RS 2104.... can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to use this line: > 053 152 standby via my RS 2104? Thanks. Just Learn them.

Allen, The setup code should be VCR 0618 for the RS 15-2104. See what that controls. If you want to move the buttons around or program commands from zhezhang's post use the column called EFC's they are synonymous with Advanced Codes. For detailed instructions on how to do that or anything else with you remote go to Rob Crowe's excellent unofficial website www.hifi-remote.com and look under manuals. If there is none yet for your remote use the RS 15-1994, I think it is similar. You can also double check the setup code there as well. HTH, Jon

Whew!
Finally got it to work, and not exactly sure how. I had pressed star-512 several times, but the TIVO did nothing.
Then I figured I'd go ahead and program in the TIVO device code, VCR 0618, to the VCR button to see what that would do... that took a couple of tries, too. Finally, the TIVO started responding to the remote control for normal functions.
After that, Star-512 would sometimes get the TIVO to go standby, sometimes not. After about 6 tries, I successfully got that got learned into the MX-500.
The point of this post is tell others to keep trying! Maybe it has something to do with the length of each ubtton press or the position of the stars, but it seems these things (at least my RS 2104) can be finicky!
Good luck.
-Allen
