Hi

I've done a few of the PSX2 and already a couple of them seem to be locking up or locking up the iPod. Is this a common problem? A two year old nano locks up and one recent PSX2 with firmware updated locks up with most iPods or iTouch put into it. Could be a defective dock I guess.

I have 6 PSX2 installed out on the field in last 5 months will no problems.  When you purchase the PSX2 even though you just bought it today, it is recommended by URC to update the firmware yourself.  If you have already done this then I would recommend sending it in under warranty.

I had several lockup issues prior to the most recent PSX2 updates.
I have had none since.

We've actually identified an issue with a number of iPods that cause this lockup. Believe it or not, the problem is in the iPod, not in the PSX-2. We can't work around the problem without violating Apple's communications protocol. We submitted the bug to Apple, but they'd have to issue a firmware update to the affected iPods to fix the problem.

The workaround, although not desirable, is to turn off cover art on the affected iPods.

Best regards,
Dale

Is there a way to know which models have issues?

Here's something interesting. I had a PSX 2 installed at a client's house. Its firmware was up to date and so were the iPods - but they were still locking up. Took it out and replaced it with an Apple TV.

Then I installed the same PSX 2 as a temporary dock in another house and it's been working fine. What was the difference? I used the rear IR port fed by an MRF260 when it was locking up and this time I just connected a flasher at the front. I should try this at another installation where it's locking up with a particular iPod.

Where was the noise coming from? Could be you got a bad dock. If so, take it back to your authorized dealer for exchange.

Hi guys,

i have a URC R50 remote control and i recently bought the PSX-2 for my iPod classic 160GB. Everything works fine but there is this small issue of not being able to navigate right or left on the PSX menu. Any ideas?

My personal psx-2 also locks up my nano and in turn the nano needs to have the battteries drained before it will work again (haven't tried other versions of ipods yet). I'm fine with turning off the cover art, but I don't believe this is causing the problem. Using the rear IR port could be the culprit havent tried taking this variable out of the look yet either.

Can we get a list of iPods that do work properly??? would be good to know as I am very hesitant to recommend one at this point even though I like its capabilities its performance is not at a level I could put into a clients house.

many of the commands that are pre-programmed in to the remote do not work correctly. I had to merge many different files and transfer soft button codes on a mx980 via the software to create a usuable file. good luck if you don't have access to the codes or a way to learn, then store, then teach back commands.

I found this out with an MX-450, too. The right and left cursor commands in the IR library don't work for crying out loud. How is a do it yourselfer supposed to get this to work? I had to program an RTI remote from it's own library to get the codes.
