Well it seems to be happening more and more. Sales caves and I end up having to make a non spec'ed Plasma or LCD work on our systems.

Yesterday it was a Vizio 60. SOft blocky image like nobodies business and the 3:2 pull down.... I nearly got dizzy watching some of the judder problems. Oh and the tint is all over the place...

Control issues.
No Power On Power Off.
Had to fall to pass query.
Is the TV On? Yes (Continue to source selection) No (Issue Power Command)

Several inputs for HDMI/Component/AV
Had to make some pretty macros
Macro using learned codes from remote... AV HDMI COMPONENT OK
Desired result = HDMI 1
AV
delay.1
OK
delay .1
HDMI
delay.1
OK

Desired result HDMI 2
AV
delay.1
OK
delay .1
HDMI
delay.1
HDMI
delay.1
OK

Changing sources out of the groups like HDMI component what ever... requires and OK before it will accept another source command from a different group.

Changing to another group and hitting OK and then returning to the group you wish always lands you on the FIRST INPUT of the group. (HDMI/Component/AV)

Or just fire the client...

Like clock work there was an argument over the final invoice as soon as I finished programming.

JUST SAY NO TO VIZIO!

I had a Bravo D1 DVD player and it was pretty cool to have the first like all digital feed straight from the DVD to the display. I mean it wasn't my SDI from Player to scaler to display but it was cool. But then I have to change out the transport because it was crap. Then there were discs that just wouldn't play. Then firmware changes that didin't actually fix things.

So they change the name to Vizio and sell it to the big box stores.. I notcie they don't do DVDs anymore... hmm.

I pretty much did exactly what you are saying here on a Vizio. After one week, the customer had us remove the screen and get it ready for him to return to Costco. We installed our standard panel......all good!

In the end the guy is on the hook to us for almost $3k in labor to integrate the V "pos" Plus the cost of the new screen and its install. If he had just listened to us in the first place it all would have been good two months ago! He chose the V because it was inexpensive and had his cabinet guys build a unit for it. They insisted that he not change the screen or the cabinet would not look good. In the end they left .5" margin all around the screen (this was on an arm so it could not be pulled out)

Bascially he let a proctologist (the cabinet guy) perform brain surgery. He hired a pro and did not listen.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Friends don't let friends buy Vizio. Maybe we can protest outside Costco.

VIZIO VU42L FHDTV10A 1080p Review

First impression was Great design of TV and Input Labeling on the back for the connectors.

Second impression was Lousy for initial set-up as it didn’t find any channels as it scanned for available channels on my HD Cox Cable Box. The TV didn’t ask me to select an input first. Men aren’t supposed to read the quick instruction guide first. Then after I selected the right input (HDMI1) I started to look at the stations. They all looked worse than my old analog TV. After I fiddled with some settings I couldn’t get it to look any better. I ended up selecting the factory setting and looking again and it was still bad. I was about ready to box this up and give it back to Costco. I remembered reading somewhere on the web that someone had pulled the power plug to let the TV degauss itself. I let the TV rest for about 10 minutes and then plugged in the power cord and WOW!!!, what a difference.

This TV puts out a great picture with a good sound system.

I'm still trying to get my RCA RCR412S programable remote to get some Vizio code to work. Anyone have a Vizio working on an RCA remote?

Springs,
Thanks for the help, I know it's only a matter of time before I'm stuck doing one.

fishnrib,
You're using an RCA universal remote and you LOVE vizio, what a surprise.

But I saw a Vizio LCD in Ocean's 13 - it must be a good TV or they wouldn't have had it in the movie, right??? ;)

One of the guys here saw a 42" Vizio for less than I thought you could buy the stinking LCD panel subcomponent itself for yesterday at Sam's...how in the world are they making money?

they are making it up on volume...and by purchasing b and c grade lcd panels that the 1st tier manufactures can not use because they don't meet spec, add in a 2 or 3 generation old surplus video chip/card/processor and you have yourselves a product at greatly reduced prices.

Thing is though, they're likely working through a contract manufacturer, not their own lines, so the manufacturer is buying the components, Vizio is buying the finished good, and then Sam's is buying the item, and then reselling it - it's just amazing how they all make money. But like you said, it must be volume.

I also blame a lot of the 2nd/3rd tier LCD panel makers who built up way too much product and are having to blow it out to make up for the overstock situation.
