Attempting to use Denon AVR 785 with Earthquake SUB80 subwoofer. When powered up there is a hum/buzz coming from the SUB80. Earthquake support suggests connecting a dedicated ground wire to the Denon AVR. Is there a correct way to do this?

I'm with Flandon, I'd bet money that disconnecting the CATV eliminates the hum. Earthquake should know this!!!

Did you try a "cheater plug" adapter that takes a 3 prong down to 2? I have seen it work.

That works but kills the warranty (of the surge protection)and the safety
We know phase and same curcuit
My RF base stations explode with HD DVR's also

I've tried seperate circuits, even my next door neighbor's AC plug.

Multiple gounded devices in a system can always be trouble. I'm assuming you've tried disconnecting EVERYTHING from the system (ie. only have the receiver + sub connected together - no TV, DSS, whatever) and adding everything back one device at a time until the problem is narrowed down. If you get a ground hum with JUST the receiver and subwoofer hooked together... you may not have many options. |

Are there any VC in the system? Zone2 Internal amps w/ niles VC's? or Multichannel amps? It may also be bleed through from an unpowered down (analog) source?
