Last week I went out to see this customer about a consistent drop out on his binary 4x4 Hdmi matrix. While there none of his Crestron control was working. Touch panels remotes etc were non responsive.
Loaded up toolbox and found that there was no longer a program file. The customer had rebooted the rack several times before I arrived. I reloaded and left.

Last night we were experiencing ice storms and power outages and I get an email that when the power came back on the Crestron system was non responsive again. I haven't been out again but I suspect that the processor has lost its file again.

I remember some time ago we had a similar problem with an adagio processor. TS told us to replace the NVRAM battery. Could this be the same issue with the MC3?

Why would you have to go out to check? Why wouldn't you just remotely log in?

I had the same problem. Received a phone call at 4pm yesterday saying that none of their lighting keypads were working.

I went over and no programs were allocated in the processor but when I connected using file manager and the files are still loaded on the processor.

What you need to do is open text console and type in REGPROG -P:ALL, this will register all the program slots. After that type RESPROG -P:ALL, this will restart all the programs.

Also update the processor to FW 1.008.040, you will also have to reload the programs using the most recent software files.

For those that care, I have just spoken to the Crestron Canada Technical Director regarding this problem and it is caused when the processor cannot complete a reboot sequence in 3 consecutive trys. On the forth reboot the processor boots in "recovery mode" which bypasses all loaded programming to ensure that it isn't stuck in a programming loop with a corrupt or overpowering program loaded. This is not a problem with the hardware and is a design feature that Crestron has incorporated.

The crappy part about this is a 3 series boot sequence is much longer than that of a 2 series therefore the likelihood of this boot failure becomes more prominent. I didn't ask if there was anything Crestron was going to do to acknowledge this or extend the amount of reboots required before booting in recovery mode.

In any case if you live somewhere that is prone to power outages a UPS with additional batteries or a whole house generator will help keep these service calls to a minimum.
