I found my old Echo Dot and wanted to know if people are still using them or if they have been relegated to acting as a hockey puck.

I use it many times daily to control my Crestron system at home and have several clients who do the same. Dont use them much for general questions as Google is way better at those sort of things.

I use Echo Dots and the Alexa built into SONOS speakers daily also. I have no idea if there are security issues.

We have them spread all over the house, garage and my office. Used mostly as a music source, calculator, timer & weather station.

For Alexa, voice processing is done remotely. Voice processing is done locally for Sonos Voice Control.
