So, I have another Sony "message" that's a bit annoying. When client turns on her system (TV is ip controlled with URC system) she gets a message saying "To reduce the risk of image retention, it's recommended you turn off the TV with the power button on the remote control" This happens typically when the TV is first turned on, not every time. From the message I'd think it would show this if the TV was left powered on for a long period of time......I looked around the TV's settings and couldn't find anything related to this. Have any of you encountered this message before ??

Yeah, I started to see that occasionally on one of my own tvs. It seems to have originated with a Sony firmware update a couple months back. This is my kitchen TV, also IP controlled (RTI, but that won’t be relevant). Somehow the firmware is recognising that the TV has not been switched off at the onboard button but not detecting that it has been powered off with an IP command. I’m guessing this needs a firmware fix/update on Sony’s end. Not sure it’s worth the time playing around with power settings on the TV only to lose the message and probably IP control as well! I’m using the RTI Google Bravia driver. There is another RTI Bravia driver which I seem to remember has some alternative commands, some of which did and didn’t work for me. Maybe see what your options are with URC drivers (?) Gotta say that with RTI drivers the compatibility notes for specific models are sometimes a bit sketchy.
