Wasn't sure where to ask this question, but I figured it was more of a custom install type deal.

I have an Atlona 8x8 matrix (AT-PRO2HD88M) that has been being controlled by an Elan HC6. The HC6 controls the switching via RS232 and has IR outs that plug into the matrix IR ins on each channel to pass the IR along the cat5 to the baluns by the displays for IR control. The Elan has been a total pain so I have removed it to eliminate the need for RS232 and reconfigured the system to use URC remotes and have 2 MRF-350s for IR control of everything.

The matrix switching works fine with an IR emitter from the 350 stuck to it. BUT the IR does not pass through to the displays. I used the exact same cables, just unplugged them from the IR outs on the HC6 and plugged them into the MRF350. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this would not work. They are mono cables. The MRF is putting out signal because if I plug in an emitter to test it it flashes. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Any chance you have wrong codes? Put the IR on the receiver and see if it flashes. If it does then signal is getting through but maybe to weak or strong or just wrong. IR is picky.

Also try resetting the baluns.

I had a problem with that same matrix trying to use dual emitters from the controller. I was trying to control a tv and a cable box with 1 ir port. I ended up having to split the irs to just control each device. Do you have a flashing ir on the tv? If you do you can see if a signal is at least going through the extender.

I do have a flasher on the TV. No signal going through. I also ran a cable from the MRF350 to the IR in port on the back of the matrix for controlling the actual matrix switching and it doesn't work either. It seems an incompatibility with the IR output signal of the MRF350 and what the matrix accepts. I'm no IR expert in any way. But I don't see now they can be incompatible. It's just a signal wire and a ground wire, right? Is it a voltage output issue? The MRF350 actually has variable signal on each output and I tried it at multiple levels with no change. Can't figure it out.

We ditched Atlona several years ago due to extenders not working properly, had the opposite experience with their tech support.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.
