Has anyone found something to pull audio out of an ARC connection?

In this case it is an LG TV and a Denon AVR. Customer wants to use built in apps on the LG and likes the ARC connection with control to the Denon because it actually works.

The only thing is, now he wants to use a pair of headphones but also have ARC going through the receiver simultaneously. This way he can listen on his headphones while the wife uses the surround.

The TV kills all it's other audio outs, including it's bluetooth connection if the ARC function is active so I have not other audio connections available for the headphones.

I found an ARC audio extractor on Amazon, but it does not pass the ARC connection on to the Denon.

Is there a way to get both the ARC surround audio and an audio connection for the headphones simultaneously?

You could use the digital audio out, convert it to analog and the split. Just had to do this in a client's bedroom. Audio split to headphones and audio system to speakers in the room. When they are watching together, they use ceiling speakers, and when she goes to sleep, he grabs the headphones.

Does the Denon AVR have bluetooth output?
If so... does it play in-sync with the video?
If so that could work.

Outside of that, I haven't seen an audio extractor that works with ARC and keeps the CEC functionality intact.

LG might have their own headphones available that will link with the TV and work that way. (??)

I bought this recently:

It was for a similar application. It extracts and passes on the audio.

This is a good choice.
It extracts the audio off of your sources and outputs it as Optical, Coax and 3.5mm analog.

It extract audio from ARC and outputs it as Optical & Coax.

So in this particular case I'm trying to pull the audio off the ARC channel when using the apps built into the LG OLED (note that I cannot use the LG's digital out because it is killed when ARC is activated on the set)

So, I could place this unit in between the Denon AVR and the LG OLED, with the Denon's ARC monitor output going into one of the switches inputs, and then connect the switch output into the ARC connection on the OLED? Would it still pass Dolby Digital etc to the Denon?

To clarify, I do not have any external sources going into the Denon. It's just the Denon connected to the LG with an ARC/HDMI cable

I have a different issue. I have an LG set with no ARC, but I have a soundbar that could do ATMOS, if I had a compatible HDMI feed. I don't need to use the TV's Apps or the cable box, but if I could use a box, such as ROKU to feed video to the TV and compatible HDMI audio to the soundbar, I could use ATMOS.

You are correct, All sources to switch to TV and either optical or void out to Denton.

So, if there is audio in the ARC from the sink then the device outputs that audio and otherwise it outputs the audio from the source?
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

The detection is not automatic, there are two control options, an IR code or a button on the front of the unit.

I have a few of these in the field and have no issues.  I'm not using for ARC but they support it.

Good to know that Denon finally added this. The list of Marantz models is here:

It's fine... as long as your headphones support a pairing code of 0000 and that they can handle low latency codecs so the lip sync isn't constantly drifting in and out when tied into a video source.
It's not a case of it working with all headphones... try a set of Airpods to start with and see how it handles them (can you change volume etc).
