I've got an installer here who's used to how he does things, and I have questions that he can't really answer. And I'm not an Apple guy.

He says the normal iPad setup for the app is that the iPad is asleep (or whatever it's called, probably iSleep) and when the front door is rung, one chirp is heard. The client then pushes the button, swipes to the right, and opens the app. This is ridiculous for an iPad dedicated to this use, which this is.

The alternative is to set the iPad to never turn off, then leave the app open.

Is there a way to have the iPad go dark/turn off/go to sleep, then automatically open to the app when it gets a signal from the Doorbird?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Can't disable the slide-to-unlock, except maybe via jailbreak. Apps can push a notification to momentarily wake up the screen, but can't call themselves to full-screen, unlock the ipad, etc.

If the iPad is new enough, TouchID will let the user unlock w/ a press of the Home button, bypassing the swipe and passcode screens.
