I am new to this forum and would like to see if anyone could help me with the programming of my AMX Viewpoint.

I just purchased the AMX Viewpoint for my home theater system. My system consist of the following components,

TV - Mitsubishi HD65857
Preamp - Sony TAE9000ES
Amplifier - ATI 2505
Amplifier - ATI 1502
DVD - Sony DVP9000ES
CD - Sony CX90ES
VCR - Sony SLV940HF
Speakers main - Martin Logan Request
Speaker center - Martin Logan Theater
Speakers rear - GNP
Subwoofers - (2)RBH 1010

I would like to program the AMX Viewpoint to control my tv, preamp, amplifiers, dvd, cd and vcr's. I need to start with the basic programming of the control. Any and all help would be appreciated. Please post response or e-mail me.

Thanks, George

Are you going to get the RF receiver and a conrol system, or try the one-way IR route?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

What kind of help are you looking for exactly? You are going to need TPDesign, an Iris, and a serial cable. The components you are looking to program should be a very straightforward job.

I have loaded the software to my computer. The following programs were loaded, AMX Dos Tools, Axcent Wire, Dip Switch, Oldesign, Open Axcess, PCDesign, Sk Design, TPDesign, TPDesign3, VPDesign3, APXpress and AMX Control Disc Readme.

I have a serial cable. I have no idea as to what an Iris is. Based on the above programs, you informed me to start with the TPDesign. Once the TPDesign is open what is the next step?

If you don't mind, maybe you could email me your number and I could call you by phone. I think that it would be alot easier to go over everything over the phone. My email is [email protected].

Thnaks, George

An Iris is a box which can capture IR from remotes. You don't really need it, as most devices have been captured and are available from the AMX website.

I am not familiar with the ViewPoint, but you can start by building your screens with TPDesign3. Go to file-new and select your appropriate model #.

Its fairly intuitive software. If you need to write AMX code, you've got a bit more work cut out for you, but it should be pretty cut and paste for your needs.
