Just curious... Has anybody ever found/gotten into the service menu on a Panasonic TV (model CTP-31XF20)? I don't even know if one exists, but I've heard some do.

To enter the service menu follow this procedure:

1. Put the set in cable mode if it is not already there.
2. Set the sleep timer for 30 minutes or longer.
3. Tune to channel 124.
4. On the set (not the remote) hold the volume down button until a red "check" appears on the upper left corner of the screen.
5. Then toggle through the various modes using the remote's power button, adjust up/down, volume up/down for parameter change.

Make sure to write down the numbers before any changes are made in case you get it messed up worse.

To exit the service menu, hold the "action" and "power" button on the set together until it resets and a self-check screen appears.

Hope that helps,

Ken,

Thanks for the reply, however, I tried it and no go. Guess my set is a little old. I bought it about nine years ago (and the picture STILL blows away most sets that I see!). Maybe there's another trick I can try.

David,
This works on my set CT-35XF53U. Make sure you take it out of service mode. I thought I did, and the kids powered it up and it was still is service mode. Whew, finally got it back where it should be.

I tried it again without any luck. While fiddling around, I did find out how to do a complete reset on the set (the hard way!). If you hold the "Menu" and "Power" buttons down on the set, it resets everything back to the factory default settings. Anybody have any other ideas?
